DEAR PARENTS

It is time for our 2026 Confirmation Class to begin! We are excited for your 8th grade student to walk through this process.

Every year, we see tremendous growth in our participants. It is our privilege as a student ministry to be a part of this important time in their lives.

Our Student Team has developed our GROW theme and curriculum around the outcome that we hope to see in our students’ lives. It is based upon 1 Corinthians 3:7 (NLT), where Paul reminds us that neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, “but only God makes the seed grow.”

We are praying for great things this year, and we hope your student will join us, and see God GROW in his/her own life.

Additional Information

Student Covenant

Confirmation marks a very significant time in your life and faith. Throughout this experience, you will be given opportunities to grow in your faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ, which will help you to eventually make your own profession of faith if you have not already done so. As part of Confirmation, parents, leaders, and students are asked to enter into covenants with God and with one another. Confirmands (students) are asked to covenant to the things listed below.
• Pray for my own faith journey, and for my peers, Mentors, and teachers
• Fulfill, to the best of my ability, all of the requirements of Confirmation so that I may grow in my knowledge and understanding of God, and to ask questions about faith, God, and the church.
• Be present at all scheduled Confirmation sessions, Confirmation Retreat, Confirmation Ceremony, and Confirmation Service.
• Acknowledge that there is only one regular Confirmation Session absence allowed, with the understanding that there will be a required make-up assignment/session covering the content missed. More than one absence and/or failure to complete make-up assignments will prohibit me from being confirmed. I understand that if that happens, I will still have the opportunity to seek membership at Mt. Horeb Church by participating in one of the regular Membership Classes.

• If I make a profession of faith during this Confirmation experience, or if I have made one prior to this experience, I will write a Statement of Faith describing that commitment (details to come)
• At the end of confirmation, I will meet with my Confirmation Mentors to review and discuss my Statement of Faith.
• I will respect all of the teachers, Mentors, and my peers throughout this experience, understanding that we are here for the special purpose of learning more about our faith.

Parent Covenant

Through teaching, mentoring, and relationships with their peers, students in Confirmation are given the opportunity to explore and grow in their faith. Confirmation is an extremely important component of spiritual formation in the life of the church, as it helps confirmands make their own declaration of faith. As a result, we ask that students, Confirmation Mentors, and parents or guardians enter into covenants. Parents and guardians are asked to covenant to the things listed below.
• Pray for my student and their adult Confirmation Mentors and teachers throughout the Confirmation process.
• Act in obedience and love as a faithful witness to Jesus Christ, as God continues to use me in the life of my student and in the lives of their friends and peers.
• Be in conversation with my student about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
• Make arrangements to have my student at all scheduled Confirmation sessions, Confirmation Retreat, Confirmation Ceremony, and Confirmation Service.
• Acknowledge that there is only one regular Confirmation Session absence allowed, with the understanding that there will be a required make-up assignment/session covering the content missed. More than one absence and/or failure to complete make-up assignments will prohibit my student from being confirmed. I understand that if that happens, my student will still have the opportunity to seek membership at Mt. Horeb Church by participating in one of the regular Membership Classes.
